In some states, self-driving cars are already on the road, and causing accidents, but autonomous 18-wheelers could be first to become mainstream. The technology for self-driving trucks already exists, but not everyone is supportive of these high-tech trucks.

It has become so prevalent that the United Nations designated 2011 to 2020 as the Decade of Road Safety. According to Bob Joop Goos, Chairman of the International Organization for Road Accident Prevention, human error is responsible for over 90 percent of traffic and road accidents.
Driving defensively is particularly important in inclement weather. During a bout of recent storms, driving conditions became particularly dangerous on Southern Nevada roads, leading to a dramatic spike in car accidents.
A Las Vegas woman was awarded over $13 million after a slip and fall in a local Lowe’s Home Center. The woman was looking at palm trees and slipped on a slippery spot. She fell, fracturing her skull. Kelly Hendrickson was awarded $13.4 million for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
