Released to Return to Work After Your Injury? Read This First

Physicians may release Nevada workers to return to their jobs after their occupational injuries or illnesses have improved. However, when and how they make the transition back to work could impact people’s continued recovery, as well as their workers’ compensation benefits.

These Paint Thinners May Be Deadly

Methylene chloride-based paint thinners can cause serious illness or death for Las Vegas workers. According to a USA Today report, at least 13 workers died in 2000 alone due to the use of paint strippers containing this toxic chemical. Whether exposed through contact with the skin or inhalation of the fumes, a researcher from Michigan State University’s Division of Occupational Medicine points out that exposure to as little as a tablespoon of methylene chloride may prove fatal.

Did Juul Sell Tainted Nicotine Pods?

A former executive with the Juul e-cigarette company claims the company knowingly put contaminated pods on the market for consumers. A representative for Juul asserts that the claims are baseless. According to researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, however, an unrelated study revealed that Juul liquids were contaminated with glucan. Chronic exposure to the microbial toxin can lead to long-term lung damage.

If You Do This Behind the Wheel, You’re Driving Distracted

A number of activities distract Nevada motorists’ attention from driving. People spend a lot of time in their cars, and it may seem like an opportune time to get some things done, like returning a friend’s call, listening to some new music, eating lunch, or checking an email. However, doing these seemingly little things while behind the wheel may significantly impair the ability of drivers to control and safely operate their vehicles. Consequently, this distracted driving behavior increases the risk of collisions, which may result in injuries or death. Thousands of people are killed and nearly one-half million are injured annually in distracted driving crashes.
